Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The School of Education is an academic unit reporting to the Provost. The School is a major center of research, teaching, and public service within the State of North Carolina, the nation, and the world. The School offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The mission of the School of Education is to conduct research, and generate basic and applied knowledge about human development, educational technology and entrepreneurship, teaching and learning, school counseling, school psychology, administration, as well as educational policy and leadership; prepare leaders in the profession of education by conducting outstanding research, teaching, and service; and assist in the development of strong and effective public schools in North Carolina. In order to fulfill its mission, the School is organized into three academic divisions: (1) Culture, Curriculum, & Teacher Education (CCATE), (2) Learning, Development & Psychological Sciences (LDPS), and (3) Educational Policy, Organization, & Leadership (EPOL).

Position Summary

The position may be eligible for hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with UNC System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Recruitment and Student Success Manager-for the Teacher Education Programs provides leadership for the recruitment and student success efforts in the School of Education's teacher education programs, including the BAEd in Elementary Education, Master of Art in Teaching (MAT) and the BEST undergraduate minor. This position is also charged with providing co-curricular support to our teacher candidates as they move into and through their programs, to support readiness for classroom teaching and resilience for impactful careers in education.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related fields
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in teacher preparation and educator workforce development
• Experience building partnerships and conducting outreach initiatives.
• Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing projects and analyzing program data.
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, organization, presentation and public speaking skills.
• Working knowledge of best recruitment practices in higher education
• Evidence of ability to collaborate and work as a part of a team

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

• Experience in education, educational leadership, higher education, or a related field.
• Knowledge of K-12 teacher workforce trends.
• Experience designing and facilitating professional development programs.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

• Travel away from campus, throughout North Carolina is required
• Some occasional evening and weekend hours are required
• Ability to work in fast paced environment with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simulatively with appropriate sensitivity

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
