Quality Technician

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, with the ability to perform basic math/geometry, understand X/Y/Z coordinates, manage multiple assignments, and work accurately in a fast-paced. Strong knowledge of precision measuring tools, including digital and vernier micrometers, calipers, and other common inspection equipment; CMM experience is preferred.

Quality Technician will be responsible for performing quality control inspection on our company products to ensure they meet the required parts specifications and standards. Ability to identify abnormalities/defects and have strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams within the organization. You may also be required to maintain calibrated test equipment, run manual and DCC CMM"s, prepare test data, and identify areas for quality control improvement.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
* Reads blue prints and travelers to understand what aspect of the job needs to be inspected.
* Determine the proper measurement tool required depending on the feature and tolerance being measured of parts
* Measure and check the parts with appropriate measuring tools to confirm they are within specification.
* Sign off on job traveler when parts are acceptable.
* When appropriate follow instructions or procedures for measurement.
* Fill out quality forms as required.
* Maintain open communication with the CNC operator and management regarding jobs status, problems or any changes to work in process.
* Be observant for changes in the parts being measured to notice trends of declining quality or indications of problems; visual inspection for abnormalities.
* Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Keep work areas organized and clean.
* Other duties assigned by Quality Manager; as needed or required.


Qualifications & Skills:
* Conscientious, organized and methodical work approach.
* Proficiency using digital and non-digital micrometers w/vernier scale, calipers and other common shop measuring tools.
* Understanding of the application and limitation of quality department tools.
* Ability to read and interpret blue prints and work instructions; including cutting plane lines and section views.
* Ability to do basic math and an understanding of x, y, z coordinates and geometry. Proficiency in trigonometry is a plus.
* Adequate eyesight and dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities.

* Ability to work on multiple assignments at one time.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and a basic understanding of MS Office applications.

Supervision Received:
Regular Supervision. A quality technician can only measure parts after being trained for in-process or first piece inspection.


Education / Experience
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Previous quality experience (3 years); including mechanical inspection (1 year) required.
* Prior CMM experience preferred.






3+ years of quality inspection experience, including at least 1 year performing mechanical inspection in a machine shop/CNC manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of precision measuring tools, including digital and vernier micrometers, calipers, and other common inspection equipment; CMM experience is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions, including section views, cutting-plane lines, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T.
