Overview
The Quality Specialist II is responsible for supporting and executing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities during the construction of power generation facilities. This mid-level role ensures that construction processes, materials, and installations comply with project specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality systems.
The position works closely with engineering, construction, and subcontractor teams to identify quality risks, enforce compliance, and drive continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
District Overview
TIC Power (TICP) is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation that provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a non-union craft force. Strength in estimating and pre-project planning. Constructing cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal and waste-to-energy generation and resource facilities. TIC Power builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities
Implement and support project-specific Quality Management Plans (QMPs).
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, ISO).
Monitor adherence to contract specifications, drawings, and procedures.
Conduct internal audits and participate in external/vendor audits.
Perform or oversee inspections of mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural work.
Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and verify required hold/witness points are met.
Validate material certifications, welding records, test reports, and turnover documentation.
Coordinate third-party inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
Provide on-site QA/QC support during construction activities such as:
Welding and fabrication
Equipment installation (turbines, boilers, generators)
Piping systems and pressure vessels
Electrical and instrumentation systems
Identify non-conformances and ensure proper documentation and resolution.
Maintain accurate quality records, logs, and reports.
Review and approve quality-related documentation from subcontractors.
Track and report quality metrics, trends, and corrective actions.
Support turnover packages and final project documentation.
Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely resolution.
Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Verify closure of quality issues and effectiveness of corrective measures.
Work cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and field teams.
Provide training and guidance on quality standards and procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce rework, and enhance efficiency.
