    Overview: We are searching for an experienced Quality Engineer at our Wilmington, NC facility, HMF Express Division. This position is responsible for, but not limited to: shop floor quality program, shop floor quality dispositions, incoming inspection, vendor quality compliance and audits, in field quality issue resolution, gauge and fixture tracking and calibration program. The Quality engineer will be responsible for tracking all Non-Conformance costs and establishing a program to solve the issues, through root cause analysis using Lean Manufacturing tools. The quality engineer will also support and maintain processes control documentation, participate in continuous improvement activities. Critical thinking, problem solving skills and high mechanical aptitude are a must.     Responsibilities:

    • Identify and execute continuous improvement projects (focused on reduction of internal and external nonconformance)
    • Owns Scrap Reporting process and program for scrap reduction
    • Owns Internal and External Quality Control program
    • Owns the Vendor Quality Control and Incoming Inspection program
    • Responsible for Customer Service Support on Quality related issues
    • Responsible for Shop Floor Support on Quality related issues
    • Develops and oversees Procedure Documentation and Control Plans

    Requirements:

    • Structured problem-solving skills including root cause analysis
    • Basic understanding of ERP systems and general business terminology
    • Understanding of Lean Enterprise, 5S, PDCA, root cause analysis
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work with customers (internal and external) to resolve quality issues
    • Experience working with vendors to improve their quality systems and resolve issues
    • Good interpersonal skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment, and strong communication skills
