Description
Our client, a Automotive company, is looking for a Quality Engineer for their Redford, MI location.
Responsibilities:
The main function of a quality engineer is to research and test the design, functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, systems and processes and develop quality standards.
A typical quality engineer has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and evaluate product integrity and standards.
Coordinates quality objectives with other departments
Drives continuous improvement by developing and implementing error and mistake proofing
Keeps management abreast of progress, developments and pending problems
Drive issues to closure through the various quality feedback loops
Analyzes assembly process data to look for trends or possible upcoming concerns.
Works with Advanced Quality Tools (i.e., PFMEAs) to ensure a quality assembly process
Keeps management abreast of progress, developments and pending problems
Analyzes SPC data and works with manufacturing engineering to make process improvements
Knowledge of GD&T and CMM operations
Facilitate others in the executions of Quality Improvement activities
To work in a plant environment, working hands-on with engine assembly
This is a plant-floor-forward role. Most of the shift is spent actively engaged in the production environment, not behind a desk.
5-10% - Meetings: Daily shop floor meetings and shift handovers to align on open issues, priorities, and status
50-60% - Floor Work: Working directly with operators on the line, identifying and resolving quality issues as they arise in real time
30-40% - Data and Collaboration: Organizing and analyzing quality data, coordinating with cross-functional partners on shift to address systemic issues
The team supports quality control and production assurance for HDEP engine assembly. Contractor will work alongside two other QA engineers.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering required
2-4 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Experience with SPC data analysis
Proficiency with advanced quality tools, including PFMEAs
Knowledge of GD&T and CMM operations
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings
Experience analyzing assembly process data to identify trends and drive corrective action
Comfortable working in a fast-paced plant environment and building rapport with hourly production staff
Ability to handle conflict professionally and drive issues to resolution under pressure
