Quality Control Technician – Electrical Control Panels

The QAQC Technician works closely with Assembly Technicians, Controls Technicians, Project Managers, and the QAQC Foreman to support project timelines and quality goals. Daedalus is an engineering-first partner-focused on what matters: efficient, reliable solutions delivered on time and on budget.POSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Control (QAQC) Technician is responsible for inspecting and ensuring the quality of custom electrical panels throughout fabrication and prior to packaging and shipment. This role evaluates each panel against engineering drawings, reference materials, and company standards; documents inspection results and issues; and verifies that corrections are completed before panels are released for shipping. The QAQC Technician works closely with Assembly Technicians, Controls Technicians, Project Managers, and the QAQC Foreman to support project timelines and quality goals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDuties include, but are not limited to, the following:Quality Inspection & DocumentationPerform detailed inspections of custom panels to ensure compliance with quality standards and project requirements.Conduct tests such as continuity, insulation resistance, and voltage checks to confirm each panel is functioning correctly.Use meters and other calibrated electrical test equipment and measurement tools to verify panel quality.Identify and document defects, noncompliance issues, and wiring errors; recommend or implement corrective actions as needed.Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs and documentation of inspection results, including the Quality Log, Panel Tracker, and Smartsheet.Verify that corrective actions are completed by the responsible technician before releasing panels to shipping.Technical & Compliance SupportRead, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and bills of materials to guide the inspection process.Maintain familiarity with relevant industry and safety standards, such as UL 508A and applicable national and local electrical codes.Support root-cause analysis of quality issues and help implement corrective actions.Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs), including interaction with customers as needed.Coordination & CommunicationCoordinate with Assembly Technicians, Controls Technicians, Project Managers, and the Operations Manager to meet specifications and production deadlines.Communicate with the QAQC Foreman and Shipping/Receiving regarding projects ready for shipment.Attend daily morning planning huddles.Follow all company safety, compliance, and reporting procedures.Continuous ImprovementIdentify and help implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and throughput.Provide feedback to support improved design for manufacturability.Additional DutiesPerform additional job-related duties as assigned, which may include wiring, assembly, and material receiving and preparation.SKILLS & CAPABILITIESStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.Proficiency using a tape measure/scale with accuracy.Skill in using and calibrating standard electrical test equipment and measurement tools.Effective problem-solving skills and sound judgment in identifying and resolving quality issues.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability and willingness to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and resolving issues.Able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.Commitment to safety and compliance with all company guidelines.PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.Ability to lift and exert up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.Work is performed in both office and shop environments, with occasional exposure to high noise levels and moving equipment.QUALIFICATIONSAbility to read, interpret, and work from electrical drawings, wiring drawings, and blueprints.Proficiency in using a tape measure/scale with accuracy.Familiarity with UL 508A and applicable electrical codes preferred.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.Prior experience in electrical panel assembly, quality control, or a related field preferred.
