    Description

    The Quality Control Manager at Weaver-Bailey Contractors, Inc. is a role responsible for overseeing and leading the company's quality control program for concrete production and placement across multiple projects. This position goes beyond hands-on testing and inspection to include program leadership, process improvement, compliance oversight, and team development. The Quality Control Manager ensures that all concrete materials, testing procedures, documentation, and corrective actions consistently meet or exceed project specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards.

    This position requires a regular presence on project sites and direct collaboration with project leadership, operations, and executive management. Due to the nature of the work environment, this role is classified as safety sensitive

    Key Responsibilities:

    Quality Program Leadership

    • Lead, manage, and continuously improve the company-wide quality control program for concrete production and placement.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized quality control procedures, testing protocols, and documentation practices.
    • Ensure compliance with project specifications, DOT requirements, industry standards, and internal quality expectations.

    Oversight & Technical Expertise

    • Oversee concrete testing, inspections, and verification activities across multiple projects and batch plant operations.
    • Review and approve mix designs, testing results, corrective action plans, and quality documentation.
    • Serve as the primary technical resource for quality-related issues, providing guidance and resolution strategies.

    Team Leadership & Training

    • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Quality Control Specialists and technicians.
    • Coordinate staffing, workload distribution, and scheduling for quality control personnel.
    • Develop and deliver training on quality standards, testing methods, safety requirements, and documentation practices.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, plant personnel, and executive leadership to proactively address quality concerns.
    • Participate in pre-construction meetings, project planning, and post-project reviews related to quality performance.
    • Prepare and present quality reports, trends, and improvement recommendations to internal leadership and external stakeholders.

    Continuous Improvement & Risk Management

    • Identify trends, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in quality performance.
    • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action efforts.
    • Support audits, inspections, and client or agency reviews related to quality control.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in quality control within the construction industry, with a strong focus on concrete production and heavy civil work.
    • Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing quality control programs and personnel.
    • Extensive knowledge of industry standards, DOT specifications, and regulatory requirements related to concrete quality.
    • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with field teams, management, and clients.
    • Proficiency in quality control software, reporting tools, and data analysis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience managing quality control for large-scale heavy civil or highway construction projects.
    • Prior batch plant operations oversight.
    • Relevant certifications (ACI, DOT, or similar
