Logistics & Purchasing Coordinator
Location: Austin, TX (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Job Summary
Our client, a leading semiconductor organization, is seeking a Logistics & Purchasing Coordinator to manage global logistics operations, procurement activities, and trade compliance. This role is responsible for coordinating international and domestic shipments, ensuring import/export compliance, and supporting purchasing functions. The ideal candidate has experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, and semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchasing- Create, review, and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders (POs), RFQs, and change orders
- Evaluate supplier quotes based on cost, lead time, quality, and technical requirements
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and freight terms with suppliers
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and receipts; resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation for audit readiness
- Utilize ERP systems and procurement portals for order management and reporting
Logistics & Shipment Management- Plan and coordinate domestic and international shipments (air, ocean, ground)
- Select carriers and freight forwarders based on cost, service level, and urgency
- Monitor shipments, track delivery status, and resolve delays or issues proactively
- Investigate shipment discrepancies, damages, and customs holds
- Maintain relationships with logistics providers, freight forwarders, and carriers
Import/Export Compliance- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations (EAR, ITAR, HTS classification)
- Prepare and review shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, export declarations)
- Act as primary liaison with customs brokers and regulatory agencies
- Maintain compliance records and support audits and regulatory reporting
- Develop and improve internal trade compliance processes
Warehouse & Physical Logistics- Oversee packaging and shipment preparation, including ESD protection and hazardous materials compliance
- Handle and move shipments (up to 100+ lbs) using appropriate equipment (pallet jacks, dollies)
- Maintain inventory of shipping supplies and materials
- Implement best practices for packing, labeling, and handling high-value equipment
Operations & Continuous Improvement- Support process improvement initiatives across logistics and procurement
- Track freight costs and assist with budgeting and reporting
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and global teams
- Support special projects and provide backup for supply chain functions
Required Qualifications- 3+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, procurement, or purchasing
- Experience with international shipping, import/export regulations, and trade compliance
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and procurement tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data analysis, reporting, tracking)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lift and handle shipments up to 100+ lbs
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in semiconductor, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing industries
- Familiarity with freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and global logistics operations
- Knowledge of hazardous materials shipping requirements
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Exposure to data analysis tools or reporting systems
