Job Summary:

We are seeking a PsychiatricDD Nurse Part-time to join our team at the Columbus Developmental Center. As a PsychiatricDD Nurse, you will assume primary nursing responsibility for assigned residents, including nursing treatment planning, verification and review of physician orders, audits, self-medication plans, human sexuality programs, medical administration, infection control, physical assessments, and health care related scenario programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assure primary nursing responsibility for assigned residents
  • Participate in related meetings as required by Supervisor
  • Communicate medical information to parents/guardians when appropriate
  • Fill in for psychiatric meetings as necessary and work with physicians on a rotating basis
  • Process physician orders, including labs, x-rays, and medical appointments
  • Communicate change of resident status to appropriate interdisciplinary team members
  • Schedule follow-up care of residents with physicians as needed
  • Monitor health care charts on living areas to ensure proper follow-up and continuity of health care
  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team, including collaboration with the clients physician
  • Submit reports to supervisor, including IPP input, chart audits, psychotropic medication reviews, self-medication inputs, and physical assessments
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate client self-medication programs
  • Provide health teaching and direction to family staff and clients as directed
  • Assist in orienting training of new staff
  • Conduct and participate in In-Service trainings sessions
  • Provide clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Current license as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio, as issued by the Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code
  • Nursing technical skills, behavioral health customer service, medical medical charting, medication management, and professional skills, including adaptability, attention to detail, confidentiality, teamwork, and time management
