Description

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the housing management team in the overall management of low-income housing. This is a direct facing client support position. Reports to: Program/Regional Manager or Designee OVERVIEW This position works collaboratively within a dynamic team environment to ensure Alaskans have access to safe, quality, and affordable housing. This role requires sound analytical abilities to assess and evaluate problems, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple standards related to the Voucher and AHFC Public Housing programs. The incumbent must possess the ability to effectively listen and communicate with a diverse range of individuals, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Non-exempt, non-supervisory position. Examples of Duties This is an entry level position that supports the team in the administration of rental assistance programs aimed at low-income clients. The following represents the major essential and secondary duties of the position; however, they are not intended to be all-inclusive. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Answer, screen, and direct telephone calls (including complaints) to the appropriate AHFC personnel. Manage appointment scheduling such as making, rescheduling, and cancelling appointments as necessary Provide accurate program information to clients or prospective applicants; assisting with applications to various housing programs, Assist with application review for completeness, potentially obtaining verifications and inputting client information into AHFC computer systems. Support accurate applicant files, and brief applicants on eligibility requirements in adherence to applicable regulations and guidelines. May be required to provide appropriate community resource referrals. Perform responsibilities in accordance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies. May provide information on applicant or client grievance procedures. May assist in the marketing and recruitment of applicants for the waiting list. May provide program information during online or in person briefing classes as needed. Other duties as assigned This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by ensuring access to essential housing resources for those in need Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: Proficiency in business English and math; professional communication skills; effective office practices and procedures, sound interpersonal relationship concepts. Basic property management concepts and practices. Skills in: Organizing data and maintaining files efficiently; fundamental understanding of affordable housing regulations; competence in implementing and following procedures; making mathematical computations; selecting and applying guidelines and procedures; basic interviewing techniques; and operate a personal computer and relevant software. Ability to: Comprehend and interpret written materials, perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision; establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to navigate regulatory and policy handbooks governing housing programs; convey information clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing form to a diverse group of individuals; complete all required training to enhance professional competencies. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and one years experience in general office practices or property management, or a combination of the two. Office experience to include clerical duties such as typing, filing, copying and computer experience (Word, Outlook, and Excel preferred). Must have valid Alaska Drivers license (or be able to obtain one within 5 calendar days of beginning employment) and show proof of good driving record, when requested. Excellent benefits package.
