Location: Minneapolis, MN

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid 2 3 days per week onsite (Denver or Minneapolis)

• Pay Rate: $80.00 $95.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 4:00 PM; occasional overtime may be required
• Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required; travel expenses reimbursed per company policy
• Conversion Potential: There is a strong likelihood that this position could be converted to a permanent role based on performance and project needs

Job Summary

The Project Manager II will be responsible for overseeing project execution, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget. They will manage project scope, timelines, and resources, and will be accountable for all aspects of the project lifecycle.

Project delivery methodology will be Waterfall. While Agile knowledge is acceptable as vendors often deliver using Agile, the organization is not looking for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, or resources with extensive experience in the Agile methodology.

A typical day involves leading project meetings, coordinating with team members, managing project documentation, and addressing any issues that arise. The PM will also be responsible for communicating project status to stakeholders and ensuring alignment with project goals. Additionally, project financials will make up some time throughout the week/month.

The PM will support a team of approximately 10 15 members, including developers, business analysts, and testers. Key players include the project sponsor, department heads, and other senior stakeholders. The PM will report to the Program Manager. The work environment is highly collaborative and supportive, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and open communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee project execution, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget
• Manage project scope, timelines, and resources across the full project lifecycle
• Lead project meetings, coordinating with team members and addressing issues as they arise
• Manage project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
• Communicate project status to stakeholders and ensure alignment with project goals
• Manage project financials, including actuals/variance analysis and forecasting, on an ongoing weekly/monthly basis
• Manage a core project team including a Business Analyst, a QA Lead, and direct work to a Project Architect (dotted line), SMEs, and vendor resources
• Manage up to the Program Manager
• Support a team of approximately 10 15 members, including developers, business analysts, and testers
• Coordinate with key stakeholders including the project sponsor, department heads, and other senior stakeholders
• Run meetings and workshops effectively
• Summarize and visualize project information into engaging and illustrative executive summaries

Required Skills

• Experience with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software deployment projects, including integration with legacy systems
• Strong financial management background, including actuals/variance analysis, forecasting, and related disciplines
• Experience with project management tools and software including Microsoft Project, Office 365, Confluence, SPM/ServiceNow, etc.
• Experience managing resources (core project team), including business analysts, QA leads, project architects, SMEs, and vendor resources
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to run meetings and workshops effectively
• Ability to summarize and visualize project information into engaging and illustrative executive summaries
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Proven leadership
• Positive, engaging attitude

Preferred Skills

• Previous utility industry experience
• PMP or equivalent certification (preferred but not required)
• Accrual-based accounting experience (preferred but not required)
• Vendor management experience, including RFP experience

Education Requirements

• PMP or equivalent certification preferred but not required

Required Experience

• 10 years of direct project management experience required

Nice-to-Have Experience

• An additional 5 10 years of PM or PM-adjacent experience such as PMO, BA, Test Lead, etc.
• Experience working in larger organizations with interdepartmental coordination
• Previous utility industry experience
