Project Manager-Facilities Electrical Engineer

General Responsibilities:
Coordinates and manages the planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout of major capital construction, renovation, infrastructure, utility, and building systems projects. Responsible for delivering assigned projects safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with scope, quality, and operational requirements. This position is a Project Manager role requiring an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead projects involving campus electrical distribution systems, power monitoring and control systems, emergency and standby power systems, grounding and lightning protection systems, and building automation and control systems. The position may also manage other technically complex infrastructure, utility, and multidisciplinary projects as assigned.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides overall project management for assigned capital construction, renovation, infrastructure, utility, and building systems projects, including planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, design coordination, construction administration, commissioning, occupancy, and project closeout.
Coordinates project activities among users, building administrators, Facilities personnel, consultants, contractors, utility providers, public safety representatives, and other stakeholders to minimize disruption and ensure successful project delivery.
Develops and administers project budgets, schedules, contracts, bid documents, specifications, and project controls; monitors project performance and implements corrective actions as necessary to achieve project objectives.
Serves as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and maintains project documentation, including project records, reports, meeting minutes, drawings, and financial information.
Conducts site visits and inspections to evaluate project progress, confirm compliance with contract requirements, identify risks, and facilitate timely resolution of issues.
Applies professional electrical engineering judgment in evaluating existing conditions, technical alternatives, design documents, equipment selections, studies, submittals, testing, commissioning activities, and construction-related issues.
Manages projects involving electrical power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, substations, feeders, power monitoring and control systems, emergency and standby power systems, grounding and lightning protection systems, and building automation and control systems.
Provides electrical engineering consultation, technical guidance, and design reviews for capital projects managed by other project managers.
Coordinates planned outages, cutovers, temporary power systems, construction phasing, and contingency measures for work in occupied, research, healthcare, and mission-critical facilities.
Ensures compliance with applicable codes, regulatory requirements, safety standards, UAB design and construction standards, and project procedures, including commissioning, testing, turnover, and operational readiness.
Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of UAB design and construction standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
