IT Project Manager to fulfill an immediate vacancy.
This position is a
Contract opportunity (initially 612 months, with potential for extension or conversion based on performance) that is
hybrid in Birmingham, AL, with a split of onsite and remote days each week.
Day to Day Responsibilities:- Drive one to three concurrent, large-scale enterprise initiatives spanning multiple business areas, coordinating hundreds of stakeholders and team members toward on-time delivery
- Build and maintain detailed project schedules and resource plans from defined scope and work packages, identifying dependencies and balancing workloads across teams
- Lead technology initiatives including system integrations, retirement of legacy platforms, and technology consolidation following business acquisitions
- Manage scope, risk, and change control within an established PMI-aligned governance framework, using portfolio management tools to track progress and report status
Position Requirements:- 47 years of IT project management experience, including having directly led technology projects from start to finish
- Proven ability to develop schedules from scope and work packages, manage dependencies, and build resource and labor plans in a complex, multi-project environment
- Strong command of PMI-based practices (scope, risk and issue management, change control, governance), with a Waterfall or hybrid delivery background
- Skilled at coordinating cross-functional stakeholders with strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Familiarity with project portfolio management or scheduling tools such as OnePlan, Planview, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Jira
- Preferred: PMP certification (or CAPM/other PMI credentials); background in energy, utilities, manufacturing, industrial automation, or other operationally focused technology environments
