About the Company

Our client is a food manufacturer with operations in Nashville, Tennessee. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates outside the Nashville area.

The Role

As Project Engineering Manager, you will lead and execute large-scale, complex technical projects in the food industry, leading a team of engineers directly and indirectly and overseeing the design, development and implementation of new solutions. You will work independently on most tasks and escalate only the most intricate challenges.

What You Will Do

• Develop engineering designs, material specifications and project cost estimates, supported by feasibility studies and economic analysis.
• Ensure designs meet required standards and codes; validate field work and create as-built drawings.
• Review engineering submissions for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage project execution by directing vendors and contractors, and partner with them on layouts and utility requirements.
• Coordinate project schedules with plant personnel, vendors and contractors, and work with management and engineering teams to implement plans.
• Review consultant work, recommend adjustments, and maintain project documentation (manuals, drawings, specifications) and vendor contacts.
• Lead pre-project planning and reviews, define scope of work, and prepare and evaluate proposals.
• Manage contract administration and review bid packages.
• Prepare project documents such as budget analyses, plans and schedules, and monitor installations against specifications and budget.
• Report project status to management regularly.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years of leadership experience, including team development and management
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling
• Project management, contract administration, and national codes and standards interpretation skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and engineering economics
• Excellent communication, organizational planning, teamwork and analytical skills
• Ability to travel to other locations about 50% of the time

Nice to Have

• Experience managing multi-million-dollar projects with large scopes
• Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry
