The Office of University Research & Innovation (OURI) supports and advances research, scholarship, innovation, and the administrative and operational activities that help these efforts succeed across Tufts University. Working behind the scenes, OURI helps faculty, researchers, and university leaders navigate research administration, compliance, technology transfer, research infrastructure, environmental health and safety, and other initiatives that support Tufts' growing research enterprise.
This is not a research position. Rather than conducting research, the individual in this role helps support the operations, communications, events, and administrative activities that enable the university's research mission.
Reporting to OURI leadership, the Project Coordinator supports a variety of administrative, operational, communications, and event-related initiatives that help advance the university's research and innovation mission. This position is ideal for an organized, enthusiastic, and adaptable professional who enjoys learning new things, supporting a wide range of activities, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to build experience in administrative coordination, event planning, communications, website management, and university operations while working closely with faculty, staff, researchers, and senior university leaders. Successful candidates will enjoy a dynamic work environment where no two days are exactly alike. Some days may focus on planning meetings, updating websites, or creating communications materials, while others may involve coordinating conferences, supporting special events, and helping ensure important initiatives run smoothly.
Candidates who have developed organizational, communications, customer service, administrative, event coordination, or leadership skills through professional experience, internships, campus involvement, or student employment will find meaningful opportunities for growth and professional development in this role.
This position is based on Tufts University's Boston campus and follows a hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate is expected to work on campus at least three (3) days per week, with remote work flexibility in accordance with university and departmental guidelines.
As part of the application process, candidates will be asked to submit a brief cover letter responding to specific questions about their interest in the role, relevant experience, and qualifications. Please review the Application Instructions section below before applying.
