What You’ll Do

  • Lead and significantly contribute to architectural design and technical development for multifamily and mixed-use projects including podium, wrap, garden-style, and structured parking developments.
  • Coordinate projects from entitlement through construction administration, understanding zoning constraints, density calculations, parking ratios, and municipal approval processes.
  • Develop site-responsive design solutions for urban infill, transit-oriented development (TOD), and large-scale mixed-use communities.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with developers, consultants, and municipal authorities.
  • Coordinate full consultant teams including structural, MEP, civil, landscape, parking, traffic, acoustic, façade, and vertical transportation consultants.
  • Assist with envelope detailing, waterproofing strategies, life-safety systems, egress planning, and building code compliance (IBC, local amendments, accessibility requirements).
  • Contribute to efficient unit planning, amenity programming, and common area design that responds to market trends and lease-up goals.
  • Support cost-conscious design decisions aligned with pro forma constraints and construction type (Type IIIA, VA, IB, etc.).
  • Assist with specification development tailored to multifamily durability standards, maintenance expectations, and value engineering considerations.
  • Contribute to managing budgets, schedules, consultant coordination, and documentation standards.
  • Mentor junior team members and elevate studio-wide technical consistency.
  • Participate in client presentations, entitlement meetings, and business development pursuits.
  • Collaborate with Technical Directors and Principals to improve multifamily delivery standards, documentation quality, and internal training initiatives.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 6–8+ years of professional experience, with a strong focus on Multifamily and Mixed-Use development.
  • Active architectural license in Texas preferred.
  • Proven experience across all project phases, including entitlement support, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Strong understanding of multifamily construction types (wood over podium, concrete high-rise, wrap, tuck-under, etc.).
  • Experience coordinating complex consultant teams (structural, MEP, civil, landscape, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Revit required; experience with visualization tools (Rhino, Enscape, etc.) a plus.
  • Knowledge of accessibility (ADA, FHA), life-safety planning, and jurisdictional review processes.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design strategies including building envelope performance, efficient systems selection, and energy-conscious planning.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects and maintain autonomy.
  • Effective communication skills for working with developers, municipalities, and internal teams.
  • Working knowledge of business software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); MS Project a plus.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience delivering award-winning Multifamily or Mixed-Use projects.
  • Understanding of development pro formas, financing structures, and cost-per-door metrics.
  • Experience navigating zoning variances, PDs, and entitlement hearings.
  • Familiarity with parking structure coordination and podium detailing complexities.
  • Knowledge of modular or prefabricated construction strategies for residential product.
  • Active involvement in ULI, AIA, or similar organizations.
