Project Controls Analyst

Overview

Insight Global's Consulting division partners with customers to deliver outcome-based projects. We are seeking a Project Controls Analyst to partner with Project Managers and Finance leaders to help develop and expand our project controls framework as our industry and customers evolve.

The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for ensuring financial predictability, transparency, and execution of controls across the full lifecycle of projects. This role partners closely with Delivery, Finance, Sales, and Accounting to monitor project performance, forecast outcomes, mitigate financial risk, and ensure projects are executed in accordance with contractual and financial requirements. This role requires attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. • Support project initiation, handoff, change orders, extensions, and project closeout activities.
• Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed project financial forecasts.
• Track actuals vs. budget and forecast, identifying variances and risks early and recommending corrective actions.
• Monitor PO Burndowns and flag projects at risk of running out of funding.
• Review client contracts and pricing models to validate alignment with project setup, billing structure, and revenue recognition methodology.
• Support earned value management (EVM) and other performance measurement techniques as applicable.
• Produce regular and ad‑hoc project financial reports and dashboards for leadership and stakeholders.
• Provide clear insights into project health, financial risks, and trends to support informed decision‑making.
• Identify opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and financial controls.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1-4+ years of experience in project controls, FP&A, project management or project accounting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with financial systems or BI tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience supporting consulting, professional services, or project‑based environments.
• Familiarity with revenue recognition concepts and contract‑based financial models.
• Experience with earned value management (EVM) or project performance metrics.
• Power BI or similar reporting/dashboard experience.
• Advanced excel knowledge including PowerPivot, Power Queries, and Data Models
