Position Information

Position Title Program Manager Position Summary
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Life and Engagement, the incumbent advises and provides leadership to a major student organization or group of organizations, who are integrated into the student organizational structure, but are responsible to a legally authorized body other than the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of directly related experience are required.
The incumbent must have an understanding of leadership, development, and programming as it relates to the holistic development of students; and knowledge of marketing/publicity strategies. The duties of this position require experience with specific programming for college students; leadership, training and advising student organizations; expertise with contract negotiations; special event planning, and major entertainment productions. The incumbent must have excellent leadership, organizational and programming skills. Interpersonal, counseling and communication skills are very important. This position requires familiarity with state and local policies, procedures, regulations and laws pertaining to the assignee's student group(s). Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management is also required. The incumbent of this position must be willing to work irregular and flexible hours.
This work requires excellent written and oral skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as by-laws, operation and procedural manuals, and professional business periodicals/reports. The incumbent must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policies/procedure manuals. The work also requires the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, students, faculty, staff, constituents of the College, and the public in a group or one-on-one basis.
To perform this fob successfully, an individual must have advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) which includes creating flyers; typing letters/memos and e-mails; creating spreadsheets that include formulas; presentations plus things such as creating brochures, creating tables, newsletters, graphs, and forms.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field is preferred. Experience with supporting and managing HBCU Greek Life and Pageantry events preferred.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms to reach, and operate the computer and other office equipment, stoop, talk and hear, and regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to: climb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
