Production Supervisor

Job Summary

Amsted Rail is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations within our Camp Hill facility.

The ideal candidate will be a strong floor leader who enjoys developing employees, solving production challenges, and driving operational excellence. This position requires a supervisor who is willing to work alongside employees when needed, train new operators, and provide leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Candidates with CNC machining, assembly manufacturing, or machine shop experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Shift flexibility is required, as business needs may require support across multiple shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise daily production activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Directly supervise production employees including work assignments, attendance management, discipline, training, and performance coaching.
• Ensure production schedules, quality standards, efficiency targets, and customer delivery commitments are achieved.
• Train, coach, and develop new and existing operators.
• Serve as a hands-on leader by assisting with equipment operation and production activities when needed.
• Monitor operations and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve production issues.
• Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices.
• Conduct accident, injury, and near-miss investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Monitor production metrics and communicate performance results to leadership.
• Manage inventory levels and assist with cycle count activities.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Flexibility to support multiple shifts as business needs require.
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Strong ability to train and develop new operators.
• Hands-on leadership style with willingness to jump in and operate equipment when operationally necessary.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years CNC machining, setup, programming, tooling experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or 5S experience.
• Maintenance troubleshooting knowledge.
• Root Cause Analysis experience.
• Knowledge of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and production performance metrics.
• Experience in a union manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

Must have full range of body motion. Certain operations require repetitive bending, squatting, and full arm extension. Manual lifting not exceeding fifty (50) pounds may be required. Ability to work throughout various manufacturing environments while wearing all required PPE.
