Position Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating production schedules, inventory levels, and material requirements while supporting leadership through data-driven insights and automated reporting. This role partners closely with Manufacturing, Planning, and Quality teams to translate operational and sales data into actionable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and automate Power BI dashboards tracking production, inventory, and sales performance
- Analyze operational and sales data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Create and automate advanced Excel reports using Pivot Tables, formulas, and lookup functions
- Support leadership with KPI dashboards, automated reporting, and ad-hoc analysis
- Partner with Manufacturing, Planning, and Quality teams to streamline data collection and reporting workflows
- Analyze sales forecasts for assigned direct sales materials
- Generate production schedules and raw material requirements
- Release production work orders to Manufacturing
- Analyze sales performance and establish Production and QC priorities
- Maintain inventory levels to meet assigned targets
- Participate in the transfer of new products from R&D to Manufacturing
- Communicate work order status, inventory levels, and project updates to internal stakeholders
- Maintain work center schedules and communicate capacity constraints
- Provide guidance and training to junior Production Planners on new techniques and process changes
- Ensure distribution inventory requirements are planned and shipped to correct locations
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of MRP II and computerized inventory control systems
- Extensive knowledge of material master data, BOMs, routings/recipes, and work centers
- Knowledge of cost accounting fundamentals and labor reporting
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power BI
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPIM certification
- Experience supporting manufacturing or regulated production environments
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) typically required
- 2–5 years of related production planning or supply chain experience
