    Production Manager — Residential Remodeling

    Nelson Builders, a family-owned remodeling company with 25 years of serving the West Michigan lakeshore, is looking for a hands-on Production Manager to run residential remodeling projects from the ground up. This is a leadership-driven field role: you'll manage crews, collaborate with subcontractors and trade partners, and direct the overall flow of each project — staying hands-on with carpentry work as needed to keep things on schedule.

    What You'll Do

    • Own residential remodeling projects from planning through completion

    • Manage crews and coordinate with subcontractors and trade partners

    • Direct the day-to-day flow and schedule of each project

    • Hold the team accountable to quality expectations at every stage

    • Stay hands-on with carpentry work as needed to keep projects on track

    • Make sure every project runs smoothly from start to finish

    What We're Looking For

    • Strong leadership and sharp on-site management skills

    • Solid carpentry expertise

    • Experience managing residential remodeling projects or field crews

    • Comfort building and owning project schedules

    Compensation:

    $45+ hourly


    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee residential remodeling projects from the first day on site to the final walkthrough

    • Direct the field crew's day-to-day production and workflow

    • Work closely with trade partners to keep every project on schedule and up to standard

    • Set up and track project schedules in JobTread

    • Visit job sites regularly to check on progress, workmanship, and safety

    • Mentor and develop carpenters and other field team members

    • Take ownership as the go-to field leader for getting projects built

    • Communicate directly with homeowners as their main point of contact throughout the build

    • Jump in on carpentry tasks when needed to keep a project moving


    Qualifications:
    • At least 5 years in residential construction with hands-on leadership experience (remodeling background a plus)
    • History of successfully juggling schedules, crews, and several projects at once
    • Background as a foreman, production manager, or similar field leadership role
    • Skilled carpenter across both rough framing and finish work
    • Equally comfortable directing a team and working alongside them on site
    • Communicates clearly and professionally with homeowners, crews, and trade partners
    • Leads with fairness, consistency, and accountability
    • Detail-oriented with a genuine commitment to quality craftsmanship
    • Michigan Builder's License a plus, or willing to work toward one
