Job Title: System Integration Engineer

Location: Kansas City, MO

Job Type: Full Time, Contract

Expected hours per week: 40

Schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri

Pay: $36.75-$42.00/hr

Job Description:

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Integration Engineer to support the design, implementation, integration, and validation of vehicle electrical systems. This role is responsible for ensuring vehicle electrical and electronic components function together seamlessly by developing system schematics, conducting compatibility reviews, supporting prototype and production builds, and performing ECU integration testing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, vehicle electronics, diagnostics, and root cause analysis, along with hands-on experience supporting vehicle development programs from concept through launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop vehicle-level electrical system schematics and logical diagrams.
• Review and approve electrical device transmittals and engineering documentation.
• Define vehicle fusing, grounding, and electrical architecture strategies.
• Conduct system compatibility reviews to ensure proper integration of modules, wiring, and interfaces.
• Develop and maintain System FMEA, Design Verification Plans (DVP), and validation documentation.
• Support prototype breadboard development, including parts selection, validation, and sign-off activities.
• Perform ECU integration testing, including software flashing, calibration updates, configuration, and diagnostics.
• Execute system-level functional testing and analyze self-test results.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic system issues utilizing structured root cause analysis methodologies.
• Support prototype vehicle builds, launch activities, and pre-production validation efforts.
• Collaborate with design, validation, software, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve technical issues.
• Provide on-site support during prototype and launch vehicle builds, including assembly plant support as needed.
• Support CAN network analysis and vehicle communication diagnostics.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

Required Skills

• Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
• Systems Engineering experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Root Cause Analysis and structured problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Required Experience

• Development of electrical system schematics.
• Experience integrating multiple electrical and electronic vehicle subsystems.
• Support of electrical device transmittal processes.
• Development of System FMEA and Design Verification Plans (DVP).
• Prototype build support and vehicle validation activities.
• Compatibility reviews involving ECUs, modules, and wiring interfaces.
• Production launch support in manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• CAN Network diagnostics and analysis.
• ECU software flashing and calibration updates.
• Vehicle diagnostics and functional testing.
• Automotive electrical architecture experience.
• Experience supporting prototype vehicles and launch programs.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and vehicle communications.

Work Environment

• Hybrid schedule with approximately 4 days per week onsite during design phases.
• Increased onsite support (up to 5-6 days per week) may be required during prototype builds, vehicle launches, and production support activities.
• Occasional weekend support may be required during critical launch and build events.
• Work may be performed in engineering offices, prototype labs, and vehicle assembly plants.
