Do you want to define the future of Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) for Amazon"s entire device portfolio? The Frustration-Free Setup team is hiring a Principal Product Manager - Technical to build a scalable, consistent OOBE solution that will run across all Amazon device product lines-from Alexa devices to Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and Kindle-impacting millions of customers from their first moment with our products.

The Frustration-Free Setup team provides foundational setup and connection experiences for smart devices that result in reduced friction for customers. We provide first party and third-party device makers Software Development Kits (SDKs) and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that are easy to integrate, so they can focus on creating unique product experiences.

We"re now expanding our mission to revolutionize the Out-of-Box Experience across Amazon"s device ecosystem. You"ll lead the development of a unified, scalable OOBE solution that ensures customers have a consistent, delightful setup experience regardless of which Amazon device they purchase. This involves building frameworks and standards that all product lines will adopt, requiring deep collaboration with Fire TV, Alexa, Kindle, Tablets, and other device teams to balance consistency with product-specific needs. Your decisions will impact potentially every Amazon device shipped, making this a true platform play with company-wide impact.

We are driving to standardize OOBE across all Amazon devices to ensure customers have a consistent, delightful setup experience with our products.

You will work with every device product line, data engineering/science teams, business intelligence, development teams, and present your work to our executives. We seek a great team player who can motivate team members, inspire action, and collaborate with management to develop creative solutions to hard technical problems.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager - Technical to tackle complex and ambiguous initiatives that span numerous systems and organizations across the Devices business (Echo and Alexa, Fire TV, Kindle, Fire Tablet). The person will own the communication, coordination, and execution of a long-term, multi-year product vision.

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
