    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor"s degree or equivalent practical experience.
    • 2 years of experience in a policy, legal, trust and safety, or technology environment.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience utilizing and configuring AI, machine learning, or automated data tools to analyze data, extract signals, or build triage workflows.
    • Ability to navigate ambiguous, rapidly evolving legal and policy landscapes and handle high-pressure escalations with composure, sound judgment, and a strong bias for action.
    • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills, with experience translating complex legal and technical concepts for cross-functional stakeholders.
    • A proven track record of prioritizing collective team success and a consistent history of proactively supporting peers to balance workloads and achieve shared goals.

    About the job

    As a part of the Legal Investigations Support (LIS), the team is responsible for managing global user data disclosure requests supporting criminal investigations, civil matters, emergency matters, and privacy inquiries. Your team will work collaboratively with the Data Disclosure Strategy Team (DDST), which sets legal policy, while LIS oversees the scaling of those policies into standard operating procedures for global implementation. As a part of this team, you will coordinate the program management necessary to fulfill Google's compliance, privacy, and civic obligations at a global scale.

    As a part of this mission, the team keeps Google legally compliant, protecting user privacy, and safeguard communities, by driving data disclosure operation.

    As a Policy Specialist within the Legal Investigations Support (LIS) team, you are behind the success of global legal operations. As a part of the LIS team, you will handle requests for user data received from government agencies, courts, and parties in civil and criminal litigation. In this role, you will manage these legal requests, processing them through complex internal policies, tools, and workflows.

    In this role, you will be focused on some of our most sensitive, complex workflows, and will lead day-to-day efforts to successfully navigate these high-stakes escalations and cases. You will combine deep subject matter expertise in handling sensitive legal requests with self-service AI tooling proficiency to effectively filter through workloads.

    Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

    US: $111000 - $159000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

    Responsibilities

    • Review, process, and respond to legal requests related to real-world investigations on Google users.
    • Apply standard tools, resources, and processes to respond to complex inquiries and escalations from law enforcement agencies, courts, and third-party attorneys.
    • Leverage and configure AI/ML tools to extract advanced risk signals, drive operational efficiencies and enhance quality.
    • Exercise sound, independent judgment on highly sensitive matters, establishing an intuitive balance between autonomous decision-making and strategic escalations to leadership and cross-functional partners.
    • Analyze trends, maintain clear documentation, and collaborate cross-functionally with legal, policy, and engineering stakeholders to adapt guidelines and scale internal workflows.
