    As a Platform Support Data Engineer on the SAMS Technology team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the resiliency, stability, and performance of enterprise data platforms that support key business capabilities across Schwab. Working within a collaborative and highly technical environment, you will partner with engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to support and optimize database platforms, deployment pipelines, and application environments while helping drive continuous improvement through automation and modern DevOps practices.

    In this role, you will contribute to the reliability and operational excellence of applications and services by troubleshooting complex production-support challenges, improving platform performance, implementing monitoring solutions, and identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation. You will help maintain and enhance database environments, support application releases, and influence operational best practices that improve system availability, scalability, and efficiency.

    What you have

    Required Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, software deployment pipelines, database platforms, or related technology environments.
    • 3+ years of experience performing database administration, database troubleshooting, performance tuning, or database operations activities.
    • Experience supporting software releases, release engineering processes, and application configuration management.
    • Experience implementing automation solutions and supporting DevOps practices that improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
    • Experience monitoring applications and platforms and using operational metrics to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
    • Knowledge of software development lifecycles, infrastructure technologies, databases, operating systems, networking, and application support best practices.
    • Experience working in Agile environments and partnering effectively with Agile development teams.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to quickly understand complex systems and architectures.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
    • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL database administration, migration, monitoring, performance tuning, and recovery processes.
    • Experience with CI/CD tools and platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jira, or Confluence.
    • Experience supporting cloud-based platforms and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) technologies.
    • Experience with Splunk, AppDynamics, or similar observability and monitoring platforms.
    • Experience administering or troubleshooting Linux and Windows environments.
    • Knowledge of ITIL problem management and operational support practices.
    • Experience supporting third-party vendor applications and SaaS platforms.
    • Experience within the financial services, banking, or highly regulated industry.
    • Experience establishing database backup, recovery, and capacity planning strategies.

    In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
