This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified PA who enjoys patient interaction, clinical services, and working in a professional, team-oriented environment.About the RoleThe Physician Assistant will support services within our Occupational Health lab helping provide efficient, accurate, and compassionate care to occupational health clients.The role involves supporting the collection and processing of specimens used for drug screening, occupational health testing, and phlebotomy services. The position also requires strong communication, attention to detail, accurate record keeping, data entry, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working with patients and employer clients.Position ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include:Providing professional, compassionate service to Occupational Health clients and patientsPerforming or assisting with blood specimen collectionCollecting urine, hair, breath, and blood samples for drug screening and occupational health purposes, as trained and within applicable scope and protocolsProperly identifying patients and specimensFollowing established specimen collection, handling, labeling, storage, and chain-of-custody proceduresPerforming appropriate patient assessments and clinical evaluations within the PA's scope of practiceMaintaining accurate and timely patient and occupational health recordsCompleting data entry, reports, and required documentationAssisting with telephone and other communications with patients, Occupational Health clients, providers, and members of the healthcare teamMaintaining organized filing systems and ensuring appropriate document handlingDemonstrating effective operation of department-specific equipmentMaintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and applicable organizational policiesFollowing established clinical, safety, infection-control, and laboratory proceduresProviding a positive, professional, and patient-centered experienceWorking collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionalsPerforming other duties consistent with the position and department needsPosition QualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programAbility to read and understand written clinical and administrative informationStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficiency with computer systems and data entryMedical background with experience in phlebotomy, drug screening, specimen collection, or document handling preferredExperiencePrevious healthcare or clinical experience preferredExperience with phlebotomy, occupational health, drug screening, or specimen collection preferredProficiency with computers and telephone systemsAbility to effectively operate department-specific equipmentUnderstanding of filing systems, document organization, and appropriate document handlingDemonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentialityAbility to work accurately and efficiently in a team-oriented environmentLicenses & CertificationsCurrent Illinois Physician Assistant licenseCurrent Physician Assistant certification, as applicableBasic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredNote: The original qualifications provided for this position reference Medical Assistant certification (AMT or ARMA).
