Physical Therapist Assistant

Job Summary

Under the direction of a physical therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for assisting with tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative physical therapy services to participants both at the center and at home. The goal is to maximize participant independence and safety while developing or restoring function. The assistant will work alongside other rehabilitation team members to implement the plan of care established by the physical therapist. Effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders is essential to promote team culture and mission.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer treatment programs as established by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing.
• Coordinate with the rehabilitation team to implement activities and programs based on individual treatment plans.
• Handle scheduling of treatment, clinical visits, and billing.
• Deliver and document physical therapy interventions in accordance with established care plans, including the use of devices and techniques to promote muscle re-education, perceptual-motor and cognitive function, balance, and endurance.
• Provide training and instructions on the use and care of therapeutic equipment to staff, participants, and caregivers/families.
• Track and manage maintenance for equipment.
• Remain alert to input from team members, participants, and caregivers, and promptly update the Physical Therapist/IDT of any changes in participants' condition or functional status.
• Participate under supervision in end-of-life care coordination and support.
• Be legally authorized to practice in the position location.
• Complete all required documentation timely and accurately.
• Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of all procedures and information.
• Follow policies and procedures and participate in required Quality Improvement activities, staff training, and meetings.
• Communicate regularly with Supervisor and team regarding workload and priorities.
• Complete all mandated trainings and health screenings timely.
• Exercise flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs.
• Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to execute tasks in a quickly changing environment.
• Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills, particularly in settings with seniors, their families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Commitment to unlocking the full potential of the most vulnerable seniors.

Schedule Notes

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. Candidates must have reliable transportation for clinical, allied, and non-clinical client-facing roles.
