    Payroll and HR opening - Onsite role in Northwest Houston The Payroll Practitioner/Human Resources Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the  Human Resources department while assisting with accurate, timely, and compliant payroll  processing. The role reports to the Corporate Human Resources Manager.
    Payroll Practitioner Responsibilities:
    • Process payroll transactions, including regular wages, overtime, deductions, adjustments,  and other payroll-related payments.
    • Review time sheets and related information to detect, investigate, and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
    • Track employee leave time, including PTO, FMLA, STD and other approved absences.
    • Maintain and update payroll records by recording employee information such as  exemptions, transfers, resignations, pay changes, and other employment changes.
    • Maintain employee payroll and personnel files in an organized manner and in compliance  with applicable legal requirements and company policy.
    • Assist with maintaining the HRIS database and employee tracking systems for employee records.
    • Support staffing logistics and assist in coordinating temporary staffing needs with supervisors and managers.
    • Assist with employee relations matters and respond to routine employee and manager questions professionally and confidentially.
    • Communicate new policies and updates to executive leadership, area managers, supervisors, and employees as directed.
    • Conduct employment verifications and respond to authorized information requests in accordance with company policy.
    • Prepare and maintain reports needed to support HR department functions, including periodic management reports as requested.
    • Participate in weekly HR team meetings to discuss current projects, initiatives, and department priorities.
    • Support the administration of benefits and other HR programs.
    • Handle HR-related issues and inquiries when the Corporate Human Resources Manager is unavailable, within the scope of assigned authority.
    • Ensure HR and payroll forms are properly received, approved, and entered into the appropriate system.
    • Assist with audits, special projects, process improvements, payroll system testing, and HR initiatives as needed.
    • Assume other duties as assigned by the Corporate Human Resources Manager or President.
      Payroll Practitioner Qualifications:
      • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree desired but not required.
      • One to two years of general business experience with a concentration in Human Resources preferred.
      • General knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, payroll practices, timekeeping processes, and employee recordkeeping requirements.
      • Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, database management, and recordkeeping preferred.
      • ADP payroll system experience a plus.
      • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
      • Ability to explain and present information in forms, tables, spreadsheets, and reports.
      • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding employee matters, organizational changes, security information, data, and files.
      • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
      • High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling employee, payroll, HR, organizational, and security information.
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
      • Professional conduct at all times and ability to interact respectfully with a diverse group of managers, supervisors, employees, and external contacts.
      • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
      • Customer-service mindset when responding to employee and manager questions.
      • Ability to follow established procedures, obtain proper approvals, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
