Patient Care Technician

Summary:

• Location: Cortlandt Manor, NY
• Duration: 16 Weeks Contract
• Shift: Day 5x7.5-Hour (08:00 - 16:00)

Responsibilities:

• Greet patients, visitors, and employees courteously.
• Identify self to the patient and explain procedures clearly and concisely.
• Respond to inquiries politely and promptly.
• Maintain awareness of patient needs during procedures requiring physical contact.
• Report observations and communications to the nurse and document according to guidelines.
• Reinforce patient education and work effectively as a care partner.
• Perform routine patient care procedures as directed by a nurse.
• Measure and record vital signs and other assigned parameters.
• Prepare patients for meals and assist as necessary.
• Assist with lifting, positioning, moving, and ambulating patients.
• Prepare patients for transport and assist with patient examinations.
• Participate in maintaining a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment.
• Report equipment supply needs and repairs to the charge nurse.
• Keep current with departmental changes and attend staff meetings.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum one year of experience as Nurse Aide.
• Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical functions.
• Completion of in-house training program approved by New York Weill Cornell Division of Nursing.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with staff, patients, and visitors.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.

Licenses and Certifications:

• BLS certification required.
