New York, NY, Boston, MA or Washington, DCSummaryThe Firm seeks a Patent Litigation Paralegal to assist the Patent Litigation practice group in all phases of the patent litigation process from the initial complaint to discovery through to trial and appeal, including US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) filings including Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings. This paralegal will also assist the patent prosecution team regarding patent due diligence searches and review.ResponsibilitiesAssisting attorneys in all phases of US Federal District Court litigation and US Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings including USPTO PTAB filings, motion practice, discovery, trial, and post-trialDrafting documents/pleadings including subpoenas, deposition notices, document requests and responses, interrogatories and responses, request for admissions, affidavits/affirmations, answers, notices, declarations, and agreementsCoordinating e-filing and service process with the Managing Attorney's office for USPTO PTAB, federal/state court or judicial panelsDocketing PTAB proceedings in firm's patent docketing softwareCompiling, organizing, and reviewing responsive and related production documentsCite-checking, Shepardizing, Blue booking and proofreading court filings and related position papersPerforming statistical and factual research and compiling data for analysesPerforming patent searches and compiling data for due diligence requestsAssisting in all phases of pre-trial activities including witness binders, organizing trial exhibits, coordinating witness attendance at trial, and coordinating the trial logistics; Attending and assisting at trial/hearings including preparing and maintaining exhibits and demonstratives, tracking exhibits introduced and marked into evidenceCoordinating the preparation of invoices for lender mattersMonitoring docket(s), coordinating service of filingsPreparing ebinders, coordinating printing and delivery of physical binders; Basic document handling for the Corporate departmentInteract and liaise with clients and vendorsQualificationsBachelor's Degree5+ years of law firm experience, including assistance on patent Litigation matters and USPTO PTAB ProceedingsExperience working with MyUSPTO, Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS), patent docketing systems (familiarity with FoundationIP is a plus)Strong written and organizational skillsExperience working with litigation databases; familiarity with Relativity is a plusExperience working with Derwent and TotalPatent One is a plusAbility to quickly and proactively identify and analyze problems, develop solutions and deliver resultsAbility to work well under pressure, in a team environment and handle multiple tasks efficientlyAvailable to work considerable overtime when required, including evenings and weekendsStrong technical skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn new software and applications*This position will require physical presence in the Firm's offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require).
