Operations Manager
Hillyard, Inc. is currently taking applications for Operations Manager for our Operations team in Mesa, AZ.
This position represents Hillyard within the local community and serves as a top-tier contact for both our customers and the area sales team. They will maintain a strong focus on continuous improvement opportunities within Operations and engage their peers at the regional and corporate levels as it relates to the development or execution of various cost control and safety initiatives. In this role the Operations Manager will facilitate employee growth and education by providing consistent and thorough feedback related to their job performance and assist with sales growth opportunities as the subject matter expert in local operations.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities:
- Responsible for management oversight of functions within Customer Service, Warehouse, Delivery, Service, departments.
- Manages and participates in the hiring process for staff.
- Manages and approves payroll of staff.
- Conduct employee job shadows and provide coaching focused on continuous improvement and 5S principles.
- Assist in the development of employees and provide critical feedback related to their job performance.
- Develop and maintain a strong partnership with the sales team including facilitating regular meetings, providing reports, and assisting with growth initiatives.
- Engage in and identify cost savings initiatives related to continuous improvement and 5S principles.
- Generate, read, and respond to daily emails and intentionally engage in other communication channels.
- Maintain annual regulatory and company compliance training.
- Cross-functional knowledge of all DC Departments.
- Attend customer meetings in support of our sales team and provide insight as it pertains to Hillyard operations and historical performance.
- Serve as main point of contact for vendors, logistics partners, and the local community.
- Facilitate individual and team meetings.
- Disseminate information and assist with audience understanding and/or adoption.
- Engage with regional team to develop and execute strategic initiatives related to inventory, transportation, training, and other areas.
- Monitor and manage an annual operations budget and adjust expenses in relation to sales performance.
- Analyze, manage, and assess distribution center activity related to customer order fulfillment.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in work projects related to task improvement.
- Maintain detailed understanding of key performance indicators and develop strategies to improve.
- Participate in local leadership and/or sales meetings.
- On occasion, serve as a Subject Matter Expert for local, regional, or national project teams.
Qualifications Include:
- 4 year Bachelors Degree Required.
- 4-6 years' experience or training in a related field.
- Forklift certification, or the ability to attain certification within 1 year.
- Superior Communication Skills.
- Demonstrated Leadership.
- Superior Analytical Skills.
- Excellent Understanding of 5S Principles.
- Superior Troubleshooting Skills.
- Computer Literacy.
