Operations Lead

Bay & Bay Transportation is seeking a full-time Operations Lead to join our team. The role of an Operations Lead is to assist in the development and performance of the Carrier Sales Representatives & Specialists within the Brokerage Team. You will also be responsible for collaborating with both the Operations Managers & the Director of Logistics to implement directives that align with overall goals & sales objectives both on an individual & team performance level. The position is designed for the individual to have upward mobility into a management position.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Securing carrier capacity in a variety of actionable items deemed appropriate by Management or Director
  • Lane Index Tool Generation
  • Responsible for managing the de-escalation of carrier issues
  • Approving over the carrier maximum (OCM) in situations deemed necessary
  • Overseeing quality assurance of loads within the system
  • Assist in operational reporting, planning & opportunity analysis
  • Provide pricing and sourcing feedback to front line employees, management and pricing department
  • Assist in the training and development of newly hired Carrier Sales Representatives & Specialists
  • Maintain knowledge of freight needs
  • Maintain understanding of market trends and industry updates
  • Provide back-up to fellow team members as needed or assist in coverage when needed.

Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Required Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Associate's/bachelor's in business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of Carrier Sales Experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation skills; the tenacity to persuade & influence.
  • Competitive attitude & innovative nature.
  • Highly motivated, with a strong desire to resolve issues & provide a high-quality customer experience.
  • Desire to work in a high energy, dynamic environment.
