Title: Operational Risk Business Partner Energy & Commodities

Office Status: Hybrid New York, NY (5 days onsite for first 3 6 months, then 3 days)

Base Salary: Up to $160, 000



Overview: A globally recognized market infrastructure and brokerage firm the largest of its kind by revenue is seeking an experienced Operational Risk Business Partner to embed directly within their Energy & Commodities business unit. This is a high-visibility, 1st line role where you'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with front-office teams to drive real risk culture, not just check boxes. The ideal candidate brings broker-dealer DNA, knows how to win over a room full of strong personalities, and can operate commercially while keeping risk frameworks intact. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner directly with front-office business units to identify, assess, and manage operational risks across BAU activity, emerging threats, and strategic initiatives
  • Lead and support risk assessment processes including Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Top-Down Risk Assessments, Scenario Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Collaborate with the business to define and maintain risk appetite thresholds and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), ensuring alignment with the business's actual activity and risk profile
  • Evaluate the adequacy of the control and policy framework;constructively challenge the business on control gaps and ensure timely, effective remediation
  • Monitor and report on the end-to-end risk profile producing MI, commentary, and analysis for senior management and risk committee reporting
  • Review new business requests and change initiatives (M&A, new products, new ventures) to assess risk impact and ensure proper mitigation is in place before execution
  • Manage the day-to-day lifecycle of risk events, issues, policy breaches, and risk acceptances in line with the firm's risk framework
  • Provide independent oversight of Business Continuity Plans and support crisis management coordination when disruptions arise
  • Deliver risk training and awareness initiatives to build a stronger risk culture across the business
  • Serve as the regional point of contact for Americas risk governance and reporting requirements
