The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at Augusta Universitys Medical College of Georgia is seeking applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (tenure-track/tenured) in neuroscience research. We are especially interested in candidates whose research is focused on age-related cognitive impairment, synaptic dysfunction, neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration.
Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have a strong record of research productivity and extramural funding.
Responsibilities
Conduct cutting edge research in the fields of neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration. Carry out research projects independently; design and execute research experiments, perform data analysis, write manuscripts, and publish results. Establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research programs to complement research strengths and goals of the department and university. Develop new methods and technology and work collaboratively with others in the laboratory and in the department. Assist with training and supervision of students, postdocs, and technicians. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. and/or M.D. from an accredited college or university and must be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level as indicated below:
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

An established national and international reputation in the fields of Alzheimers disease or other neurodegenerative disorders. Sustained success in obtaining external funding for research. Exceptional track record of publications in top scientific journals. Evidence of a commitment to fostering multidisciplinary collaborations with other academic researchers both inside and outside the university. Unique, cutting edge technology expertise.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

The mission of the Department of Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine is to promote multidisciplinary research and teaching excellence in both biomedical and clinical sciences. The department was founded in 1993 as the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics.
We seek to attract outstanding faculty and bright students by creating a welcoming, collegial, and collaborative environment to foster success and creativity. Our facultys research focuses on a variety of fundamental areas, ranging from neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders, brain injury, learning and memory, neuroprotection, development, inflammation, and regenerative medicine, using a broad repertoire of experimental approaches.
Our department is also the home to the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core, the Viral Vector Core, and a state-of-the-art microscopic facility, including multiphoton confocal microscopes, N-STORM super-resolution microscope, light-sheet microscope, imaging flow cytometry, and slide scanner.
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nations largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia.
MCGs expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs.
