The Department of Radiology and Imaging at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University, Georgias premier health sciences university, is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, as an Abdominal Radiologist. This is a great opportunity to join a department in the midst of expansion, including growing our Georgia Cancer Center and breaking ground on our 2nd hospital site (in Columbia County). The successful candidate will have an interest in teaching medical students as well as radiology residents. Responsibilities will include clinical service and teaching, with opportunities for clinical research as well, in a busy tertiary and quaternary care center with ACGME accredited residency programs. Academic time is provided, and new research projects are encouraged. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Clinical Service - 20%
Interpret a wide variety of abdominal imaging studies.
Perform or supervise fluoroscopic GI and GU exams.
Review emergent abdomen & pelvis imaging.
Provide consultation to clinical services.
Participate in imaging protocol design for abdominal studies.
Be on call/after hours as needed for acute abdominal imaging cases.
Education / Teaching - 20%
Teach diagnostic radiology residents during their abdominal imaging rotations: supervising reads, teaching interpretation of advanced cases, assisting with procedural training.
Give lectures, case conferences, journal clubs in abdominal imaging.
Guide medical student teaching when applicable (radiology electives, clinical correlations).
Participate in educational curriculum development for abdominal imaging section.
Research / Scholarly Activity - 20%
Engage in clinical or translational research within abdominal imaging.
Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals; present at national / international radiology meetings.
Possibly collaborate with basic science, surgical, or gastrointestinal oncology investigators.
Administration & Service - 20%
Serve on departmental/institutional committees.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams: tumor boards, cross-departmental conferences, collaborative care with other specialties.
Assist in development or implementation of imaging protocols, equipment purchase decisions, workflow optimization.
Regulatory, Quality, Safety - 20%
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. radiation safety, hospital rules) and accreditation standards.
Participate in quality assurance (QA) and performance improvement programs, ensuring imaging accuracy and safety.
Required Qualifications
Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor
A medical professional in training who holds a medical degree and has completed residency training who will contribute to teaching, student support, and the clinical mission of the institution.
Rank and Salary
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
