This position is for the Department of State Hospital Coalinga.

This position is the advanced journey level, which regularly performs a variety of the most difficult tasks and is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and originality in performing assigned tasks.

Working Conditions

Department Information

DSH-Coalinga opened in 2005 and began treating forensically committed patients, mostly of which are sexually violent predators. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital constructed with a security perimeter. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) provides perimeter security as well as transportation of patients to outside medical services and court proceedings.

Ability to: Type at a speed of not less than 40 net words per minute from ordinary manuscript or printed or typewritten material.

Must provide copy of typing certificate with Standard State Application (STD 678).

All state civil service employees are currently subjected to a mandatory Personal Leave Program (PLP), which entails a reduction in monthly gross salary but provides PLP leave credits in lieu of Pay through June 30, 2027. The amount of salary reduction is dependent upon the classification and associated union Bargaining Unit (BU). The BU for this position is Service Employee International Union (SEIU), subject to 3% in salary reduction, accruing approximately 3-5 hours of PLP each month.

Desirable Qualifications
