Description

The Animal Care and Control Division (ACC) is seeking an Office Manager. This role provides high-level Administrative Support to the Veterinarian Medical Director and Veterinarian.

This role will be required to work weekends as needed.

The typical starting salary is $51,646.40 - $61,984.00 annually depending upon the candidates qualifications as well as budgetary considerations. Examples of Duties

Manage daily administrative workflow of vet office to allow vets/vet techs to focus on providing high quality care to animals in the shelter.

To maintain accurate, legal documentation of all treatments, vaccinations, and controlled substance logs required for municipal, state, and federal regulations.

Serve as a key liaison between vet staff and shelter leadership to facilitate communication, resolve operational issues, and advance the shelters mission.

Support high quality animal care and public health outcomes by managing resources including budgeting support, procurement and reporting to ensure accountability, transparency and effective use of public funds.

Assist in vet suite operations.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to five years of related experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience: Previous experience in office management, team supervision, or a leadership role in an animal shelter or similar environment is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively train and guide staff. Patience and adaptability to work with staff who may need extra time and repetition to learn new tasks.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills to quickly identify and resolve operational challenges while maintaining a positive and efficient workplace.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with animal control practices and shelter operations is a plus, but a strong willingness to learn and grow within the field is just as important.
  • Commitment: A deep passion for public health and the communities we serve.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicants education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job-related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicants earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
