Office Manager

We’re hiring an Office Manager for a manufacturing company in Akron, OH. We’re looking for a take-charge, detail-driven professional who can keep a 1-person office running smoothly while managing day-to-day office operations, financial records, purchasing, and key HR support.

This role goes beyond a typical Office Manager position. You’ll be expected to “run the entire show” by holding department managers accountable, pushing back when needed, and making sure documents, reports, and budgets are handled correctly and completely. You’ll also manage bookkeeping, invoice processing, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing and purchase orders, and some onboarding and employee record support. The company uses a proprietary system, so experience with their specific software won’t be required, but you must be highly computer literate and comfortable working across multiple functions and tools.

Hours: 1st Shift, 7:30am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday

Pay:$25.00 – $30.00+/hour (based on experience and capabilities) (Pay information available in the job order.)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day office operations and procedures, including office supplies and equipment
  • Maintain office files and records, and manage office budget and expenses
  • Ensure office policies and procedures are followed, including documentation and procedural activities
  • Handle bookkeeping, invoice processing, and accounts payable / accounts receivable
  • Record daily financial transactions (sales, purchases, receipts, and payments)
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts, and track and categorize expenses
  • Process payroll, time-off tracking, and employee expense reports
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and support month-end closing
  • Process purchase orders and requisitions; maintain accurate records of orders, deliveries, and inventory
  • Track and follow up on orders for timely delivery and resolve invoice discrepancies with suppliers
  • Assist with inventory control and stock level monitoring
  • Support HR tasks, including onboarding new employees and maintaining employee records
  • Handle employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, and procedures
  • Work with proprietary accounting, purchasing, production, and record-retention software

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of office management (operations management experience preferred)
  • Experience running office operations in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and office/accounting tools
  • ERP system experience preferred (examples: SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
  • 1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience with knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management
  • Familiarity with purchasing best practices and basic contract terms
  • Knowledge of basic employment laws and HR best practices
  • Ability to review, reject, and correct documentation and procedural activities by department managers
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism

Nice to Have Skills:
  • ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks or similar)
  • Operations management experience

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
  • 1–3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience

Other Requirements:
  • Must be comfortable working in a 1-person office and managing multiple responsibilities at once
  • Ability to take charge, hold others accountable, and ensure accuracy in documentation and reporting
