Nursing Training Coordinator

Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory, the 711 HPW is comprised of the Airman Systems Directorate (RH), the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) and the Human Systems Integration Directorate (HP). Maintains and assists with program changes and provides regular feedback to AF/SG Consultants and Career Field Managers (CFM) through the Comprehensive Medical Readiness Program (CMRP) to ensure program reliability and continuity.

Position Summary:

Odyssey is looking for a Nursing Training Coordinator to support the 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.  The 711 HPW is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education and consultation under a single organization. Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory, the 711 HPW is comprised of the Airman Systems Directorate (RH), the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) and the Human Systems Integration Directorate (HP).

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Applies clinical knowledge in the context of training development and execution, ensuring accurate delivery of healthcare and emergency medical training programs. Assesses and updates training materials, focusing on current best practices in nursing, emergency medical care, and first responder protocols.
• Analyzes and generates reports on program performance, including student success rates, training effectiveness, and other metrics. Presents actionable insights to senior leaders to inform decisions on program adjustments and improvements and actionable insights to optimize the educational outcomes of USAFSAM’s healthcare and medical training programs.
• Coordinates the scheduling and delivery of healthcare and emergency medical training programs across the USAFSAM mission. Ensures that all training complies with USAFSAM and DoW regulations and standards.
• Develops, performs, and monitors conferment of continuing nursing and medical education credits. Maintains and assists with program changes and provides regular feedback to AF/SG Consultants and Career Field Managers (CFM) through the Comprehensive Medical Readiness Program (CMRP) to ensure program reliability and continuity. Provides input into medical policy development for AFI 41-106, Air Force Medical Readiness Program.
• Determines resource requirements and coordinates curriculum development needs for 711 HPW courses. Consults with Surgeon General’s (SG) clinical consultants and CFMs concerning professional and paraprofessional training standards and educational goals. Engages with leadership and cadre members at training sites to use new/existing resources more efficiently and suggests innovative ideas to optimize training experiences.
• Serves as a subject matter expert in healthcare training, data analytics, and program management during interdepartmental meetings. Works closely with the USAFSAM and 711 HPW Education Department, other DoW leaders, and medical professionals to improve program effectiveness, resolve issues, and recommend improvements. Effective communication, both written and oral, is a critical aspect of this role.
• Provides current and future educational/training coordination and courses to support readiness for all staff at USAFSAM and 711 HPW. These training platforms provide aerospace and operational medicine training for DoW personnel to assist with medical currency, comprehensive medical readiness skills, and deployment training.
• Ensures all 711 HPW courses meet academic standards, deployed medicine compliance, operational needs, and wartime readiness requirements. Utilizes knowledge of an extensive range of nursing care theories, principles, practices, procedures, and has extended Critical Care clinical training background/experience(s) to solve both administrative and professional health care problems/challenges.
• Coordinates all aspects of program start-up, ongoing reporting and monitoring of training effectiveness.
• Develops, performs, and monitors conferment of continuing nursing and medical education credits. Maintains and assists with program changes and provides regular feedback to AF/SG Consultants and Career Field Managers (CFM) through the Comprehensive Medical Readiness Program (CMRP) to ensure program reliability and continuity. • Collects, compiles, and analyzes training site data to develop reports that allow leadership to understand training shortfalls and program implementation barriers. Completes periodic review on data collection and updates data collection tools/methods for reporting purposes to provide accurate analyses of program development and success.
• Collects and consults appropriately to develop objectives and priorities that meet all suspenses. Presents complex information, concepts, processes and ideas, that are clear, concise, well-organized, and carries out work that is well aligned with USAFSAM organizational goals.
• Maintains proficiency in and builds Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Required Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen.

Clearance:  Ability to Obtain NACI.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Years of Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the nursing field or in a related area.

Certifications:   Current, unrestricted licensed Registered Nurse. Certification in education specialty is preferred but not required. Can substitute with Paramedic with national registry.  Also required, current Basic Life Support and Advanced Life support certifications.

 

In addition:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required. Proficiency with word processing software, PowerPoint and SharePoint applications is required.
• Knowledge of emergency room patient management and trauma health principles.
• Proven experience in an educational setting, preferably in the healthcare or medical field.
• Ability to design and deliver training programs, both in-person and via online platforms.
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards is mandatory.
• Knowledge of military and civilian guidelines that govern policy and procedure, successful completion of USAFSAM's and Department's orientation programs is required (After 60 days of hire).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior instructional experience (e.g., Tactical Combat Casualty Care, etc.) 
• Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) such as Blackboard, Genius, or similar platforms.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with the Department of Defense's training and educational policies and standards.
