Role Overview

Our client is seeking a NOC Technician to provide continuous monitoring, technical support, incident response, and operational support for enterprise computer systems, networks, applications, telecommunications infrastructure, and data center environments. This position serves as a primary point of contact for technical incidents outside standard service desk hours and plays an important role in maintaining system availability and minimizing business disruptions. The NOC Technician will monitor critical systems, identify potential issues, coordinate escalations, support scheduled outages, and communicate effectively with internal technical teams and end users.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support enterprise computer systems, including hardware, software, CPU utilization, file systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor network infrastructure and associated technologies, including firewalls.
  • Monitor file system backups and restart backup processes when required.
  • Monitor batch-processing activities and assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Monitor and support enterprise SAP applications, including customer information, financial, human resources, warehouse management, and related business systems.
  • Monitor telecommunications infrastructure and escalate identified issues.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for technical support requests during after-hours periods, weekends, and holidays.
  • Respond to calls from third-party vendors and coordinate escalation to appropriate technical support teams.
  • Monitor data center infrastructure and environmental conditions.
  • Document incidents, alerts, troubleshooting activities, and escalations accurately.
  • Coordinate with production control and technical support teams regarding critical alerts and system issues.
  • Support and coordinate scheduled system maintenance and outages.
  • Act as a central point of communication during system outages and maintenance activities.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and trends that could negatively affect business operations.
  • Escalate disruptions promptly to minimize downtime and maintain employee productivity.
  • Compile and distribute daily operational reports.
  • Compile and distribute weekly operational reports.
  • Maintain current NOC procedures and operational documentation.
  • Maintain updated on-call and support-team rosters.
  • Help maintain continuous 24/7/365 operational coverage.
  • Provide professional customer service while communicating with end users, vendors, and technical teams.
  • Remain available to support critical operations during severe weather, emergencies, or other business continuity situations.
  • Perform additional after-hours or on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing technical support, IT operations, service desk, help desk, or Network Operations Center support.
  • Understanding of computer systems, operating environments, hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
  • Ability to monitor multiple systems and respond appropriately to alerts and incidents.
  • Ability to document incidents and escalate technical problems according to established procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service to internal users and external vendors.
  • Ability to remain focused while monitoring systems for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently, including during shifts that may have limited staffing.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, after-hours assignments, and on-call coverage.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress situations and prioritize critical incidents.
  • Ability to coordinate incident resolution across multiple technical support teams.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for training or other business-related events.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a 24/7/365 Network Operations Center or similar enterprise IT operations environment.
  • Experience monitoring enterprise networks, firewalls, telecommunications systems, or data center infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting batch-processing environments and system backups.
  • Exposure to SAP enterprise applications or similar large-scale business systems.
  • Experience supporting scheduled maintenance, outages, and incident-management activities.
  • Experience creating operational reports, procedures, technical documentation, or support-team rosters.
