Job Summary Solution Architect / Engineer (NC DHHS)
- Provide technical leadership across multiple architecture domains: Business, Application/Software, Database, Infrastructure, and Security.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve architecture using cloud and cloud-native technologies.
- Build Minimal Viable Product (MVP) technology solutions in the cloud.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives for large, complex applications.
- Assess current technology architecture and recommend improvements for future-state architecture.
- Identify and mitigate architectural risks, ensuring adherence to best practices and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with software development teams, product managers, and business owners for smooth deployment and operation of systems.
- Guide and build CI/CD pipeline configurations for provisioning and deployment of systems.
- Build and maintain deployment, monitoring, and operations tools.
- Develop and document Cloud Operation Framework, including roles and responsibilities.
- Automate system health monitoring tools and troubleshoot development, test, and production environments.
- Communicate status and risks to product teams; help automate and streamline operations and processes.
- Ensure solution designs and implementations meet architecture quality standards.
- Guide solution architects/tech leads to ensure application and integration architecture alignment with enterprise standards.
- Stay updated on healthcare industry and digital health trends.
- Implement security architecture and controls; conduct gap analysis and mitigation.
- Establish and implement governance models for cloud migration and transformation efforts.
- Migrate on-premises systems to cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), primarily on AWS.
- Apply security best practices in AWS cloud environments.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and workgroups.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, collaboration, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Maintain active AWS Architect/DevOps certifications and/or certifications on other cloud providers (GCP, Azure).
- Utilize automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CHEF) and repository tools (e.g., SVN, Bitbucket).
- Work with cloud-native tools (e.g., CloudFormation, ELB, EC2) and understand AWS networking concepts (VPC, subnets, etc.).
- Apply Agile and DevOps methodologies in transformation programs.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
- 5+ years IT experience with Windows Server or Linux.
- 4+ years AWS, including CloudFormation.
- 8+ years related experience with Agile methods.
- 3+ years cloud architecture and economics.
- Experience with enterprise architecture life cycle methodologies and security technologies (highly desired).
