NC DHHS AWS/Java Developer

Collaborate closely with ITD and DPH data modernization teams to design, implement, and manage cloud-native solutions aligned with business and technical needs. - Develop enterprise-level data lakes using AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue, Athena).

- Serve as an AWS/Java Developer specializing in data modernization and cloud solutions on AWS for DHHS-ITD.
- Collaborate closely with ITD and DPH data modernization teams to design, implement, and manage cloud-native solutions aligned with business and technical needs.
- Modernize legacy applications, including refactoring and migrating in-house systems to the AWS cloud environment.
- Develop enterprise-level data lakes using AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue, Athena).
- Perform hands-on software development using Java, J2EE, Spring framework, and Hibernate.
- Work with transactional and RDBMS databases and assist in modernizing database systems.
- Implement DevOps practices and leverage automation tools for CI/CD.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based cloud applications and backend systems.
- Create and manage AWS ETL jobs and data pipelines for high-volume data processing.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Conduct code reviews, ensure adherence to security and coding best practices, and maintain efficient, clean code.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize applications for performance, cost, security, and reliability.
- Gather requirements from stakeholders and propose effective modernization strategies.
- Provide technical troubleshooting, issue resolution, and ensure compliance with standards.
- Experience with data analytics and BI tools (Power BI, AWS QuickSight) is a plus.
- AWS Certification and state government project experience are preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for working with technical and business stakeholders.
