Job Overview

We are seeking a Molding Engineer with hands-on plastic injection molding experience to support process development, tooling, equipment, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role will support projects from conception through production and work closely with engineering, manufacturing, management, and vendors to optimize processes, equipment, tooling, quality, and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Provide hands-on engineering support for projects from conception through production.
Develop engineering specifications for new equipment and process improvements.
Create, modify, and maintain engineering drawings and project documentation.
Manage project timelines, resources, costs, and deliverables.
Support installation, start-up, qualification, and validation of equipment and tooling.
Perform process development for new and existing injection molds.
Design, execute, and analyze engineering studies.
Provide engineering guidance to optimize plant, machinery, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
Support electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic design modifications.
Coordinate and perform equipment validations and process engineering evaluations.
Manage plant and capital engineering projects and maintain appropriate project documentation.
Improve processes and procedures to enhance product quality, reduce costs, minimize scrap, and improve cycle times and efficiency.
Provide technical expertise and engineering support to plant personnel.
Evaluate vendor proposals, specifications, manuals, and technical information for feasibility.
Support installation of new products, tooling, and related processes.
Investigate tooling and process problems and recommend product or process improvements.
Support continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
Provide training and technical guidance on special equipment and processes when required.
Stay current with emerging technologies and manufacturing practices applicable to plastic injection molding.
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment while following company quality and safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; significant relevant process engineering experience may be considered in place of formal education.
Minimum 3 years of plastic injection mold processing experience.
Strong experience in plastic injection molding and process development.
Experience with tooling design, installation, and validation.
Experience in process engineering and continuous improvement.
Hands-on experience with injection molding equipment and tooling.
Experience supporting equipment installation, start-up, qualification, and validation.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, management, vendors, and internal customers.
Strong project management, documentation, and communication skills.
