Mobile Classroom Lead Teacher

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: T-F 7:30am - 4pm, 44 weeks/year

Position Overview

The Mobile Classroom Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and providing high-quality educational experiences for students enrolled in the program while fostering meaningful parent engagement and participation throughout each class session. The Lead Teacher oversees the daily operation of the Mobile Classroom, including classroom management, educational instruction, curriculum implementation, enrollment coordination, and volunteer direction.

As a member of the Programs & Training department, the Lead Teacher collaborates with the transdisciplinary team and contributes to curriculum development, staff and community training, educational content creation, and other initiatives that support the continued growth of Little Light House programs.

The Mobile Classroom Lead Teacher understands that Little Light House is a Christian ministry whose mission is to glorify God by improving the quality of life for children with special needs, their families, and their communities. The Lead Teacher also supports the vision of the Mobile Classroom to extend services beyond the traditional classroom and increase accessibility for families throughout the Tulsa community and beyond.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Mobile Classroom Leadership & Instruction

  • Set up the Mobile Classroom environment with appropriate educational materials, equipment, and learning spaces.

  • Collaborate with the transdisciplinary team to develop flexible, engaging session routines that incorporate educational instruction, therapeutic activities, parent engagement, and meaningful learning opportunities.

  • Coordinate student enrollment through Brightwheel by approving enrollment documents, communicating with families regarding missing paperwork, and ensuring enrollment deadlines are met.

  • Communicate with the Waitlist & Programs Manager regarding incomplete enrollment requirements, student withdrawals, or available openings as needed.

  • Prepare and implement weekly educational lesson plans aligned with the Bible-based curriculum, including appropriate adaptations to meet the individual needs of enrolled students.

  • Share lesson plans with the Mobile Classroom team to encourage collaboration and integrated service delivery.

  • Lead classroom instruction using evidence-based teaching practices, including individualized instruction, small-group learning, and parent participation.

  • Ensure appropriate accommodations and adaptations are implemented to maximize participation and engagement for every student.

  • Coach and educate parents during classroom instruction, providing guidance that increases confidence and promotes continued learning at home.

  • Communicate regularly with families through Brightwheel regarding classroom expectations, upcoming activities, student progress, and other pertinent information.

  • Engage, supervise, and direct volunteers during classroom sessions to ensure smooth operation of the Mobile Classroom.

  • Collaborate with therapists to implement educational and therapeutic strategies that support each childs developmental goals.

  • Consult with the transdisciplinary team regarding behavioral or developmental concerns and implement positive behavior support strategies and appropriate classroom accommodations.

  • Report incidents promptly to the Sr. Director of Programs & Training and complete all required documentation.

Curriculum Development & Program Support

  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction to evaluate, revise, and enhance the Mobile Classroom curriculum and instructional resources.

  • Assist in developing new curriculum, lesson plans, classroom activities, and educational resources that support Little Light House programs.

  • Adapt curriculum to meet the unique needs of the Mobile Classroom while maintaining consistency with Little Light House educational philosophy and instructional practices.

Training, Education & Content Creation

  • Assist in the development of LLH Academy courses through research, writing, editing, and educational consultation.

  • Support the creation of educational content, including family resources, blog posts, presentations, training materials, and other written resources.

  • Assist in providing training for staff, volunteers, community organizations, churches, and educational partners as requested.

  • Participate in workshops, presentations, conferences, and community events representing Little Light House.

Supervision

  • The Mobile Classroom Lead Teacher reports to the Sr. Director of Programs & Training and works under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.

  • Oklahoma Special Education Certification.

  • Minimum of one year of experience working with young children with developmental disabilities or special needs (birth through six preferred).

  • Experience working with children with a variety of developmental needs, including autism spectrum disorder.

  • Demonstrates a neuro-affirming, child-centered approach to education that respects each childs individual strengths, communication style, and sensory needs.

  • Holds current CPR certification.

  • Current on all required continuing education.

  • Committed to ongoing professional growth through role-specific continuing education and specialized trainings.

  • Valid drivers license and ability to safely operate a truck and toy hauler trailer, including transporting and setting up the Mobile Classroom.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, exempt position.

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required for trainings, presentations, and special events.

  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
