First Shift: Sunday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm & Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 4:00 PM
Starting rate $18.00 per hour.
The Microbiology Lab Assistant will perform limited microbiology functions. In accordance with standard operating procedures, follows all applicable regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Daily BacT/Alert quality control maintenance.
- Removal of finalized cultures from the BacT/Alert.
- Verifies Vitek temperature is acceptable.
- Performs the following basic duties in the microbiology lab:
- Swab inoculation of Thio and TSB
- Log in specimens (electronically and manually)
- Pull discard tubes
- Daily temperatures/CO2 readings
- Log in new media, reagents and supplies
- Performs weekly eye wash/shower maintenance
- Performs weekly hood QC
- Incubator and refrigerator quarterly PM
- Troubleshoots the temperature monitoring system
- Weekly cleaning of irradiation /rinsate room
- File paperwork
- Change CO2 tanks
- 2nd check CTMS and manual log ins
- Clean lab spaces
- Organize and restock lab supplies
- MicroCheck tube discard
- Performs follow ups with branches as necessary.
- Irradiation Load specimens:
- Log in specimens
- Label tubes
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
