Microbiology Laboratory Assistant

First Shift: Sunday 9:00 am- 5:30 pm & Monday- Thursday 7:30 am- 4:00 PMStarting rate $18.00 per hour.The Microbiology Lab Assistant will perform limited microbiology functions. In accordance with standard operating procedures, follows all applicable regulatory standards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Daily BacT/Alert quality control maintenance.Removal of finalized cultures from the BacT/Alert.Verifies Vitek temperature is acceptable.Performs the following basic duties in the microbiology lab:

Swab inoculation of Thio and TSBLog in specimens (electronically and manually)Pull discard tubesDaily temperatures/CO2 readingsLog in new media, reagents and suppliesPerforms weekly eye wash/shower maintenancePerforms weekly hood QCIncubator and refrigerator quarterly PMTroubleshoots the temperature monitoring systemWeekly cleaning of irradiation /rinsate roomFile paperworkChange CO2 tanks2nd check CTMS and manual log insClean lab spacesOrganize and restock lab suppliesMicroCheck tube discard

Performs follow ups with branches as necessary.Irradiation Load specimens:

Log in specimensLabel tubes

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum RequirementsEducation/Experience

High School diploma or equivalent.
