Job Description:

Technical and Operations:

  • Oversee maintenance of University construction project records, including setup, reconciliation, and closeout
  • Supervise accounting and budgetary records for all construction projects
  • Review and approve Transfers and deposits from various funding sources
  • Prepare cash draws from the Department of Education and complete associated
  • Monthly reporting
  • Request cash draws related to bonds and internal loans
  • Allocate Interest for construction funds
  • Ensure reconciliation between University records and Department of Education records
  • Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement workbooks
  • Prepare monthly draw of accounts receivable and reporting for sponsored funding
  • Coordinate with Asset Management regarding project closeouts\
  • Tracks, on an ongoing basis, any additions, renovations and remodeling activity for capitalization
  • Ensure compliance with state, regulatory, and industry guidelines

Continuous Improvement and Process Management:

  • Analyze construction accounting processes and recommend improvements

  • Identify and implement efficiencies in workflows, systems, and reporting

  • Evaluate effectiveness of financial systems and recommend enhancements

  • Develop and track performance metrics related to service delivery, financial accuracy and operational efficiency

  • Assist in in the development and enhancement of policies and procedures related to construction accounting

Leadership:

  • Supervise and support direct reports and student interns
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and evaluations
  • Monitor workload distribution and adjust priorities as needed
  • Identify training needs and support professional development plans
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Special Projects:

Contribute to special assignments and initiatives as needed to support departmental goals

Expected Salary:

$70k - $80k

Preferred:

This position requires a strong knowledge and understanding of State of Florida regulations and University policies. Higher education or governmental accounting experience preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word

Ability to work and maintain effective working relationships with others; to understand, interpret, and apply applicable and sometimes complex rules, regulations, policies and procedures; to complete work according to scheduled deadlines; to work with limited supervision; to utilize problem solving techniques and to work independently.

Excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as the ability to work with individuals at multiple levels. Ability to work effectively in both team and individual settings. Flexibility and adaptability dealing with various priorities

Must display a positive attitude and be a team player - must be able to thrive in a collaborative environment

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and make recommendations to improve processes and /or drive organizational change

Experience using financial systems (PeopleSoft, Workday, preferred)
