The Medical Director ensures delivery of high-quality, integrated, and patient-centered medical and vision care. The Medical Director, as a licensed provider, will provide direct patient care for patients of Hunter Health Clinic (HHC). This role also provides clinical leadership, mentorship, and provider development for physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses, while dedicating time to administrative leadership duties. In collaboration with the Chief Clinical Officer, the Medical Director ensures medical and vision services function in compliance with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies, federal grants, HRSA, HIPAA, Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, HHC policies and procedures. Duties: Performs all essential functions of a Primary Care Physician providing direct patient care for a minimum of 16 hours per week in addition to the following Medical Director functions: Collaborates with the executive team to set a strategic vision for delivering high quality, integrated, cost-efficient care where an excellent patient experience and improved health outcomes are the primary goals. Supervises physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, which includes hiring, providing guidance and direction, training, evaluating performance, and initiating corrective action or disciplinary action. Provides mentorship, coaching, and professional development support for providers, including physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses, to support clinical excellence, provider growth, retention, and alignment with HHC standards of care. Creates an environment of high employee engagement to support HHC''s mission to be the employer of choice in the community. Provides vision and direction in developing new medical and vision clinical services while establishing related departmental policies and procedures. Develops and implements plans to maximize the effectiveness of medical and vision services at HHC by monitoring activities including budget planning, grant and program management, partnerships with local agencies and representation at meetings of local stakeholders and professionals. Dedicates time to administrative and departmental leadership duties, including clinical operations oversight, provider support, quality improvement, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and performance management. Establishes priorities for projects and initiatives by setting goals and objectives, then executes to reach goals and objectives while monitoring progress. Establishes and manages appropriate quality and productivity standards for patient care in the medical and vision department while assuring that appropriate protocols for continuous improvement are established and monitored for ongoing compliance with quality assurance standards set by the organization, licensing boards, and funding agencies. Manages the financial performance of the department, including developing and maintaining the budget. Manages the clinical supervision system for effective supervision of PAs and NPs. Develops and grows programs for MD/DO students and residents completing their clinical rotations at HHC. See job posting for full list of essential functions. Qualifications: A graduate from an accredited school of medicine is required. Current license as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) in the state of Kansas, while obtaining continuing education hours to maintain active licensure is required. Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, within 30 days of hire. Current and unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license is required. Maintenance of credentialing and privileging with Hunter Health Clinic, any required or relevant hospitals or facilities, and third-party payors is required. Ability to obtain malpractice insurance is required. Demonstrated clinical leadership experience is preferred, such as leading teams, supporting clinical operations, advancing quality initiatives, or contributing to organizational strategy.
