Job Description:

As a full-time instructor at LSUE, this position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Medical Billing and Coding and other assigned subject areas within the department. The instructor teaches courses, assists with curriculum development, and assesses student learning outcomes. The position works closely with the program coordinator and other instructors to support effective and engaging instruction.

Job Responsibilities:

60% Teach assigned courses in accordance with curriculum and learning objectives; develop and update syllabi, lesson plans, course materials, and assessments; use appropriate teaching methods and technologies; provide timely, constructive feedback; and maintain accurate attendance, grade, and student records.

25% Collaborate with colleagues to develop and revise curriculum; participate in departmental and institutional meetings, committees, and professional development; remain current with advancements in the field and incorporate relevant updates into instruction; participate in professional training and development, including support for online teaching.

15% Provide academic advising and student support as needed; maintain office hours and appropriate methods of communication so students can obtain assistance and have questions addressed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree

Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Medical Coding, or closely related field

2 years relevant professional experience

Experience in Medical Billing and Coding - inpatient and outpatient; familiarity with revenue cycle management;

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Medical Coding, or closely related field

5 or more years of experience.

Inpatient/outpatient coding, revenue cycle management, and teaching/training experience

Required Certification:

Must hold at least one: CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT

Job Competencies:

Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice-Proficient

Knowledge of academic resources available to students-Proficient

Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions-Proficient

Ability to provide teaching instruction-Proficient

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing-Proficient
