    Description

    US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Medical Assistant to join our team at Heartland Cardiology in Wichita, KS.

    Responsibilities:

    • Greet and direct outpatients, visitors, and families in a pleasant and caring manner to waiting areas, exam rooms and ancillary departments.
    • Perform venipuncture (if trained) and finger sticks on lab patients for processing.
    • Assist with scheduling of TeleMed or Doxyme appointments and provide patient instruction.
    • Assist Clinic physician and/or physician's staff with any procedures (i.e., vital signs, weight, positioning, disrobing, etc.).
    • Review current medications with patients and document in computer.
    • Communicate any physician delays to patient and monitor patient until physician enters exam room.
    • Perform EKG on patients as ordered by physician.
    • Obtain and document patient information as per clinic physician's protocol.
    • Know incoming physician schedules to organize appointments and issue appropriate memos regarding incoming physician visits.
    • Keep clinic staff informed of pertinent information regarding patients.
    • Clean the exam room after each patient and sanitize exam room at the end of each day.
    • Make referrals for providers as requested, with help and guidance from the provider's nurse. Provide proper documentation of referrals.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

    Requirements:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
    • 1-year medical office experience required
    • 2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred but not required
    • BLS certification required within 1 month of hire
